Editorial Standards

Tonight in Lynn covers news, events and everyday life in Lynn, Massachusetts. This page explains how we put stories together and what to do if we get something wrong.

Where our information comes from

We start with primary sources whenever we can: the City of Lynn, the Lynn Police and Fire departments, Lynn Public Schools, state agencies, court records and the organizations involved. When a story builds on another outlet’s reporting, we name and link that outlet. We don’t copy other publications’ writing; every article is written in our own words.

Each news article lists its source. If we couldn’t confirm a detail, we leave it out rather than guess.

How we use AI tools

We use AI software to help find local stories, gather public information and prepare first drafts. A person reviews every article before it is published: checking the facts against the sources, editing the writing and deciding whether it’s worth running at all. Nothing is published automatically.

Events

Event listings come from organizers, venues and public calendars. Submissions through our event form are reviewed before anything appears on the calendar. Details can change, so check with the organizer before you go.

Independence

We don’t accept payment for news coverage. If we ever publish sponsored content, it will be clearly labeled.

Corrections

If something in a story is wrong, please tell us through our contact page. We fix errors promptly and note significant corrections at the bottom of the article, with the date. When we update a story with new information, the “Updated” date at the top changes.
