Two Lynn nonprofits win $423,000 to build kitchens that feed local kids
Gregg Neighborhood House and the Boys & Girls Club of Lynn are building commercial kitchens with state food security grants.
Two Lynn nonprofits will build commercial kitchens with more than $400,000 in state food security grants, money aimed at getting more fresh meals to local children and families.
Gregg Neighborhood House received $226,358 to build a commercial kitchen and nutrition center inside its new Early Learning Center. The state says the kitchen will serve meals to more than 300 children and support take-home meals and an on-site family pantry.
The Boys & Girls Club of Lynn received $196,656 for an on-site commercial kitchen so it can cook fresh meals for kids and teens during after-school and out-of-school hours.
Both awards come from the state’s Food Security Infrastructure Grant program, run by the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources. Lynn’s legislative delegation announced the local awards in late September.
