North Shore Juneteenth Association opens nominations for 2027 Lynn honors
Deadline to nominate is Dec. 22; winners will be recognized at a Feb. 9 ceremony at Lynn City Hall.
The North Shore Juneteenth Association is accepting nominations for its 2027 Local Black Excellence Recognition, with a ceremony scheduled for Feb. 9, 2027 at Lynn City Hall, the Association said.
The Association invited residents, colleagues and organizations across Essex County to nominate Black leaders, artists, professionals and advocates who are living and identify with the Black community, and who either were born in the county, are currently based there, or have provided significant contributions to the area.
Nominees should show notable professional achievements, community service, or both, the Association added. Completed entries are due Dec. 22.
Association president Nicole McClain encouraged people to think about those in their lives whose work deserves recognition and to submit nominations, the announcement said.
On its website the group describes its work honoring Juneteenth, celebrating Black heritage and promoting education, recognition and engagement across the North Shore, and local reporting shows the Local Black Excellence program is held annually and has displayed past honorees at Lynn City Hall during Black History Month (North Shore Juneteenth Association website; Lynn Journal).
