Lynn gets $425,000 state grant for Ames Park work
The money funds a second phase of restoration at Ames Park, and Swampscott also won a state grant for Phillips Park.
Lynn has been awarded a $425,000 state grant for the second phase of restoration at Ames Park, according to the state’s PARC award table as republished by the Fall River Reporter.
The project includes a splash pad designed for universal access, a lawn, shade trees, seating, accessible walkways and landscaped areas for gathering.
Neighboring Swampscott received $70,000 to rebuild the basketball court at Phillips Park, Patch reported. That includes a new court surface, better lights and fencing, and new places to sit, park a bike and throw away trash.
The Daily Item reported that the two communities will share close to $500,000 in state park funding.
The Healey-Driscoll Administration announced the awards on October 7, 2026, according to the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs. The state said it is giving more than $13 million to 45 projects across Massachusetts.
The Parkland Acquisitions and Renovations for Communities program, known as PARC, is one of three state programs behind the funding. It helps cities and towns build and renovate outdoor recreation areas.
