Lynn wants your input on accessibility at City Hall, parks and city services

A six-question city survey, open until the end of November in six languages, will help set Lynn’s plan for removing barriers for people with disabilities.

The City of Lynn is asking residents to take a short survey about barriers for people with disabilities. The answers will help shape the city’s ADA Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan, which will set out what needs fixing across city buildings, programs and services, what it will cost, and what comes first.

The survey has six questions and is open until the end of November. It is available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Khmer, Haitian Creole and Russian. Take the survey here.

What the plan covers

The city’s Planning and Public Health departments are working with the consulting firm Kessler McGuinness & Associates and the Lynn Disability Commission. In the first phase, the consultants are reviewing city programs, including the city website, written rules and the ADA grievance process, and having accessible-design experts audit city buildings such as City Hall, the Lynn Public Library, the Senior Center, fire stations and police headquarters.

A second, grant-funded phase adds city-owned parks, playgrounds and parking lots. The city lists Goldfish Pond Park, Lynn Common, Flax Pond and Lynn Woods among them. Because of that added phase, the city is adjusting the schedule and now aims to finish the final plan in 2027.

Questions go to Transportation Program Manager Nicholas Alonzo at 781-584-2853 or nalonzo@lynnma.gov.
