Lynn Fire Department gets $776,000 federal grant for new breathing gear
A FEMA firefighter grant will pay for new breathing apparatus for Lynn firefighters.
The Lynn Fire Department is getting more than $776,000 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to buy new breathing apparatus for its firefighters. Firefighters wear the air packs whenever they enter a burning building or any other space with smoke or dangerous air.
The money comes from FEMA’s Assistance to Firefighters Grants program for fiscal year 2025. FEMA announced the award on Sept. 25 as part of more than $14.7 million it sent to fire departments and other first responders across Massachusetts.
Lynnfield’s fire department also received a grant of about $60,000 in the same round, the Daily Item reported.
